Note: This is yet another old comic, I have a lot more to say about the topic now that is way less naive, but that's ok, we all grow, I hope to speak on this topic again one of these days, now that I am older and slightly wiser.

Original commentary (November 3rd, 2019):

"Matthew 25:14-29 illustrates the kingdom of Heaven as a master leaving his money with his servants.

You’ve got a gift? Perhaps in art? Or maybe in music? Or maybe you’re good at earning money! All of these gifts and possessions we have are from God. Much like the servants in the comic, God has left us with many “talents”. 1 Peters 1:4 will tell us that “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” And 1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us that “whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.” In these verses, we can see that we are supposed to use our gifts to help one another as good stewards of God! And remember that whatever we do, using our gifts included, we ought to do it for the glory of God.

I was inspired to draw about this parable because recently I have been worried about what I should do with my life. Should I follow my passion? Or maybe choose a more secure career so I can have a good income? Then I realized that I am leaving God out of the picture! It is so important that you do not get caught up worrying about what your gifts can do for your well-being, we should all be thinking about what they can do for God!

Another aspect of this parable is using our gifts and possessions wisely. It’s easy to just spend all of your money on things that only last a little while or things you don’t need at all. Instead, we should wisely invest our time and possessions into more productive things, after we use them to minister to those who are in need. Using your possessions to generate more and helping others is far better than wasting them away!

Don’t be like the servant who didn’t do anything with his talent. Because of his laziness, he was cast out from the master. So make sure that when you stand at the gate of God’s kingdom, he won’t be disappointed with your laziness and how you used your God-given gift!"
