Note: This is an old comic. I only found out recently that the article that inspired this comic was posted on a LDS website. Welp, I still think it's a really good message.
Original Commentary (from November 29th, 2020):
I know that some or maybe even most of you have gone through much worse things than I have, which is why I am again humbled to post this comic. I’ve come to realize that I’m a pretty weak person still, and God will need to do a lot more to me to get me where I’m supposed to be, and that’s what this comic is all about!
This comic is a picture version of a very good Facebook post that my friend sent me, it is such a great illustration of what God’s refining fire is like. “
He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver” Micah 3:3
There are times of sadness and moping and you feel like everything’s falling apart, and that’s ok. But one day you will need to get back up again, that’s God’s will for you in your trials, is that you can get back up and trust Him more. It’s a lot tougher to switch to that mindset, I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% there yet, but the suffering is much needed and the result is worth it.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4
Unfortunately, God is probably not going to magically fix everything for you, He might, but sometimes what we want is not His plan. During the trial, you need to keep your eyes on Him, endure, and try your best to accept His will for you, whatever it may be.
We should rejoice though! Because it’s something worth rejoicing about! God is about to refine you since He values you like silver! He wants to make you more strong, more faithful, wise, and much more! You know He’s got great plans for you if He is willing to test you like this!
“The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the LORD tests the hearts.”
Proverbs 17:3
“that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,”
I Peter 1:7
This comic aims to show you the purpose of suffering, and the end result. It’s all for His good. In the midst of it, it’s almost impossible to have a positive outlook even if you know His plan. All I can tell you is, His plans are better than yours and He’s doing a great thing for you, keep the faith!
