NOTE: This is an old series. Since then, I've learned a lot more about emotions and how the brain works. It's a very difficult thing so I do believe I was (and still am) way out of my depth when I was speaking on this subject. So take this with a grain of salt.

Original commentary (from August 1, 2021):

"DISCLAIMER: I always go by this, when it comes to broad topics like this, I don’t cover every scenario. If you have a condition or trauma or whatever else that is causing you to have uncontrollable (like, actually uncontrollable, not just bad days but things that are beyond your reach) emotions, then this comic is not to criticize you, it’s not your fault. This comic is for people who simply struggle with emotions like I do, and know they have the capacity to overcome it, and have a desire to, but are still struggling.

This comic is more of a personal experience/advice rather than something that is straight out of the Bible. If you guys remember, earlier this year I went through a really rough time emotionally. That is where I found out just how dangerous one’s emotions are. They can really make you lose control and then go commit some terrible sin or say something you regret or whatever. A lot of people give it a pass because as I mentioned in the comic, this current culture is all about following your heart. But the Bible does not teach that, we should follow God’s word, our hearts are…. Deceitful and desperately wicked!

We can’t be conformed to this world, so my hope for us today is that we can be transformed by the spirit in this regard. If you are someone who spoils your emotions, let’s start taking steps today to keep things in check. It’s okay to feel things, it’s okay to talk about it, but once it reaches beyond its bounds and takes priority over God’s commands, it’s time to put a stop to it.

If you’re used to letting your emotions take control, I hope this comic was an eye-opener, perhaps you’re not even aware of the issue. Next week, we talk about practical ways that I’ve found helpful in fighting against emotional sin."

Original commentary (from August 8, 2021):

"I have been talking about the topic of self-control with my friends this week. And to have control over the mind is super hard to do, but if you want to live a life glorifying God and relatively free from sin, it’s an important step to take. No one will ever have complete control, and remember, it’s not a sin to feel emotions, but don’t let the bad ones become action.

It will be such a joy if I can have more control over how I handle my feelings. Too many times it’s just my feelings taking control of me and I end up doing things that I will not want to do in the long run. Too many times have I followed my feelings instead of doing more important and beneficial things. Humans can be very short-sighted creatures.

I don’t have much more to say on this week's comic, this is just some advice I give from personal experience. Please feel free to share any insights you might have as well. At the end of the day though, no human advice will be greater than God’s help, so ask Him for wisdom."
