Note: When I wrote this comic, i really had NO IDEA what a grueling world it is for those who suffer from severe mental health issues. I got a little taste of it, it really wasn't much, and my goodness did it crush me.

Mental health is an issue that christians need to take very seriously. In the Christian circles that I am familiar with, it is not. This post sadly was made by someone who is terribly uninformed, and he still is, but I hope you can still find encouragement in it.

Original Commentary (From march 30th, 2020):

"I really need to clarify that I am by no means a professional, and as I mentioned in the comic, it is very important to seek help when you need it. I also have never experienced depression or anxiety, so I do not know how you feel. I understand that it’s not something to take lightly and that it’s a very complex issue that requires a lot of work to fix. But I also hold tight to the belief that God has the power to change lives.

When Jesus went through his greatest anguish, he was facing so many things. He was about to be beaten, whipped, humiliated, and killed. Worse than that, he was about to suffer God’s FULL wrath for humanity on a cross! I cannot fathom how much suffering that is. No one was with him, his friends fell asleep, Judas betrayed him, and they will soon abandon him.

Jesus prayed. That is such an important reminder. No matter how bad your situation is, no matter how hopeless it seems, and no matter what is running through your mind. You have to pray! God hears prayers, and when you express your feelings verbally, you feel better! And believe me, and believe in God that God WILL answer your prayers if you ask diligently. Jesus even asked God to remove the sufferings from him. This brings me to my next point.

Another thing is, even though Jesus didn’t want those things to happen to him, he trusted in God. He trusted that God’s plan is greater than his desires, and allowed God to take control, “thy will be done”. Are we allowing God to take control? Are we letting our desires, circumstances, and even depression become the king of our lives? Just let go completely, give God everything, cast all your anxieties on him and let him handle it. The result might not be what you want, but it’s what God wants and his plans are 1000000% better than ours!

For those of us who are fortunate enough to be free of these issues, don’t be a bystander. Pay close attention to people around you, reach out to them in love, and have their best interests in mind. Don’t abandon friends in their times of need just because of potential trouble.

If you suffer from depression and other related issues, please, talk to people you trust, talk to other believers. Most importantly. talk to God."
