COMIC: Brokeness

Note: This is an old comic. I must admit, when I wrote this, I didn't understand what brokenness felt like. In fact, I wrote this because I wanted to CONVINCE myself that I have felt brokenness so that I can avoid it in the future. God had other plans. I felt real brokenness not long after this comic.

I still think this comic expresses good and profitable thoughts.

Original commentary (From August 9th, 2020):

"Brokenness in the context of this comic, is the state of being you are in when realized that you are faced with a situation where only God can help you. I’m sure we have all felt that situation before, and maybe we have experienced a miracle that got us out of it.

I’m convinced that true conversions happen when you experience this brokenness when you realize just how serious your sins are, and that there is absolutely no way that you can save yourself from the consequences of those sins. That’s where you fall down at Jesus’ feet and ask him to be your savior.

As Christians, I think a lot of us have become far too comfortable with our sins. We forget that the sins we commit every day, even after we are saved, are the very same sins that would’ve condemned us to a death sentence had we not accepted Jesus. So why are we not feeling the same kind of brokenness we had at first?

Psalm 51 tells us that God takes more pleasure in a heart that is broken and contrite than sacrifices. He is near to the broken-hearted. He wants you to trust in him fully and bring forth your brokenness to Him so that he can give you joy! If we don’t feel broken for our sins, then the joy of salvation is also gone!

Let us become a little bit more broken for our sins, and let us go to the savior every time we do feel that way. Why? Because it pleases Him! Be like the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet and fell down to wash it with her hair and tears. Are we offering up our tears of repentance to God? Are we humbling ourselves before Him because of our sins?

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh- Ezekiel 36:26"
