"Thank you @adventures.in.london for collating with me on this wonderful topic! Definitely go see the other part!
Being childlike is something a lot of people strive for. Not having a care about the negatives in the world, innocent love for others, having fun all the time... Biblically, there’s another reason why we should be childlike.
As we have seen in the comic, Jesus tells us that unless we become like a little child, we are unfit for the kingdom of heaven. He treasures this “childlikeness” so much that he went on to say that whoever should take it away from someone is better off dead. What is it about becoming a child that is so important?
Well, remember what Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3, he said unless we are born again, we can’t see the kingdom of God. I think that has a lot to do with being like a child. Our old selves are experienced, with terrible things, our minds stained with impurity. We need to be born again, through the renewing of the Holy Spirit, to become pure. A little child is innocent, there are no dirty or violent thoughts running through their heads, we will be the same in heaven. We can’t do this on our own, of course, only God has the power to make us new again.
Another reason Jesus cherishes childlikeness is that he wants us to have an innocent love and faith for him. A child loves their parents, they just do, why? Because they are their parents. What a sweet innocent love, do we have that for God? We really don’t, we love the world, and we only “love” God when he can give us something we need. It’s only after the rebirth can we come to God like a little child and love him just because he is who he is!
A child also trusts in their parents. They just trust them, they do not doubt! They know that mom and dad will always take care of them. Likewise, we should have faith in the lord no matter what the circumstances are! Because he is who he is!
Isn’t it wonderful to know that, we, will be just like this in heaven! We get to be God’s children, and be by his side, forever, and ever."
