Original commentary (from April 4, 2021):

"This isn’t your typical Easter message, in the sense that I’m not focusing on the resurrection, but on the price that was paid on the cross, and for whom it was paid.

The Gospel is so deep and rich, but it’s also very simple. Jesus, Son of God, left behind His heavenly throne, came down and walked on earth, and died on the cross to pay for the sin of humanity through His sacrifice so that we may be made right with God and escape eternal judgment and gain access to God’s Eternal Kingdom.

The most heart-wrenching part of this whole story is, that the only perfect and sinless human being, Jesus, that ever walked the earth, died a horrible, gruesome, and painful death for the rest of humanity, which is riddled with sin and absolutely have no power to save themselves.

Jesus died for EVERYONE. Even the likes of Barabbas ( a murderer). Now it’s not that everyone gets a free pass into heaven now. Jesus died to provide a WAY for our sins to be forgiven when there was no way before. The choice, however, is ours. Do we choose to humble ourselves, take this free gift, repent from our sins, and call upon His name for salvation? It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, or who you are. For real, you can be a convict on death row, but if you are willing to truly repent and trust in Jesus, then you too can be saved.

I hope Barabbas saw what Jesus, who had the same name as him, did for him. Perhaps Barabbas was able to find salvation too, and now both Jesus is in paradise, rejoicing. This Easter, we celebrate this amazing story of salvation!"
